Vienna, is a common place to change trains, so why not use the opportunity to see one of Mittleuropa’s great cities?

Kiss and cake 3km

This wander around the grounds of the Belvedere Palace means you could pop into the gallery/museum to see Gustav Klimt’s most famous work, The Kiss. On the way back, there’s a traditional café for a slice of cake or a schnitzel if you’re feeling more peckish. There are other places to stop nearby if it’s looking busy.

Modern art and old warfare 3km

This walk takes in two nearby museums with a pleasant stroll through the park.

This walk takes in three powerful symbols of the consequences of 20th century war on Vienna.

Hbf to Westbahnhof via chocolate and music 4.5km

If you are changing from the main railway station (Hbf) to Westbahnhof, then this walk will let you see a slice of the real Vienna away from the tour groups. On the way, you could visit Haydn’s old house or have a go at making some chocolate.
