Leiden is a university town that has a rich history and culture. It was the birthplace of Rembrandt and the site of the first Dutch university. It has a charming old town with many monuments, museums, and gardens, as well as a vibrant student atmosphere and a lively nightlife. You can take a train from Amsterdam to Leiden in about 40 minutes.
