Naples is the capital of Campania and the third-largest city in Italy, after Rome and Milan. The city was founded by the Greeks in the 8th century BC and has been ruled by Romans, Byzantines, Normans, Spanish, and Austrians. This rich tapestry of cultures has left Naples with a unique identity. Naples is home to some of the most important art and architecture in Italy. The city's historic center is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and it includes landmarks like the Royal Palace of Naples , the Naples Cathedral , and the Castel Nuovo . There are also many world-class museums in Naples, such as the National Archaeological Museum and the Capodimonte Museum. Walk or take a bus to enjoy the lively atmosphere, the delicious pizza and the impressive museums of Naples.
