Rennes has been the main Breton city since the early Middle Ages, serving as the seat of the Dukes of Brittany. The 17th-century Parlement de Bretagne is worth a look as is the Champs Libres cultural center which houses the Musée de Bretagne (Brittany Museum) and the Espace des Sciences, featuring a planetarium. For a breath of fresh air, the Parc du Thabor is a large park with gardens, fountains, and a rose garden, offers a peaceful escape within the city.
