Roubaix is a city in northern France, located in the Lille metropolitan area on the Belgian border. It is a historically mono-industrial commune which grew rapidly in the 19th Century due to it's textile industry, before falling into decline. More recently much effort has been put into the restoration of the old industrial buildings and giving them new uses.
